Blog Set Up

I do not have many prior experiences using technology before this class. I am very familiar with Microsoft Word, which I have used to write papers and essays since I was in high school. I am somewhat familiar with Powerpoint; I often view my professor's slide shows but have only created slide shows a couple times throughout my time in school. I feel I am more comfortable with the internet than with computer software because many aspects of my classes, quizzes and notes, as well as online social networking occurs on the internet.

I hope this class helps me become more comfortable using computer technology. I also hope I am able to gain some skills that I can use when teaching a special education class. I hope to become more familiar with Excel, because that would be a strong asset when I manage my finances or try to create a budget.

In class, I learned that I am a moderate sensing and verbal learner. My results also indicated that I am more balanced in terms of active/reflective learning as well as sequential/global learning. Because I lean more towards sensing learning, this mean I prefer facts, problem solving using well established methods, and do not enjoy courses that have no apparent connection to the real world. This is very true, because I did not enjoy my philosophy course last semester at all. Because I lean more towards verbal learning, it is suggested that I write my own summaries or outlines, and that it may be difficult for me to work in groups. This information was very helpful and I hope to apply it to my school work.
